Our History
Bringing people together since 1898 Vasse Hall has been a gathering place for the local community for more than 125 years. Its story began in 1897, when Richard Gale provided land for a community hall. Opening in 1898, it became a place for neighbours to meet, celebrate and share in local life. As the district grew, so did the hall. A larger weatherboard hall was added in 1936, continuing a tradition of community effort and volunteer support that has shaped this much-loved local landmark. The committee has been through a few name changes, beginning as Vasse Progress Association, transitioning to the Hall Committee to finally being named Vasse and Districts Community Centre Inc. since 1982, carrying forward that longstanding connection between people and place. The hall’s centenary in 1998 marked a hundred years of shared memories, gatherings and community pride. Today, our story continues through the people who give their time, take part in local activities and help care for our shared spaces. We honour the generations who built and sustained this community while welcoming new neighbours to be part of its future.
